Legends extended their winning streak today by defeating Titans by 10 wickets. An easy run chase from the Legends’ batsmen saw it winning the match in 7 overs. With this win Legends climbed to the second position in the points table.
On winning his fourth consecutive toss, captain Mahadevan of Legends again chose to bowl first. Legends has been following this pattern all season, which was giving it rich dividends. Sent into bat, Titans opened with Baji and Sujith, the same opening pair that had flayed the Tuskers for an incredible win in their previous match. By hitting a six off the second ball he faced Baji made his intentions clear, if anyone had any doubts at all, that he was not ready to play the waiting game. Sujith also joined the party with three consecutive sixes in the third over of the innings. However the duo was unable to add more muscle to the score as Sujith got out when he tried to hit Latheesh over the mid on boundary; he was beautifully caught by Ajith. Denny gave good support to Baji and the partnership yielded some quick runs for the team. But after Prasanth took the wicket of big hitter Baji, Titans was not able to up the ante in the final overs and in the end was able to make only 84 in 10 overs.
The Legends never experimented with their opening pair and as always, today also they started with Mahadevan and Saleem. Mahadevan was due for a big innings and he chose today’s match for that long stay at the crease. From the beginning of the innings he appeared to be in good touch and hit fours at will. The other opener Saleem dropped the anchor at one end, using this occasion of big hitting at the business end. Titans’ bowlers appeared to have no answer to either of the batsmen. The two went on in their merry way, accumulating runs at will. During his stay at the crease Mahadevan hit his first 50 of the series. There was little challenge from the opposition and Legends won the game in the 7th over of their innings, without any loss.
Mahadevan is the Man of the Match.
