No stopping the Blasters

It is three in three in CCL for the Master Blasters as they beat the Rising Stars today by 8 wickets.

Winning the toss in the third consecutive occasion, Blasters’ captain Renjith Kumar chose to field first. Though Sumesh and Vishnu gave a steady start for the Stars, they were dragged on to the back foot by the Blasters in the second over, when Noble sent back both the openers in successive deliveries. When things were looking bleak for the Stars, Aneesh came to the rescue of his team. He was joined by Vijai after the fall of the wicket of Baji. Accurate bowling from Blasters made life difficult for the Stars and wickets fell in regular intervals. Gopalan scalped 3 prize wickets, while Blasters’ captain bowled his 2 overs by giving just 2 runs and he even bowled a maiden over, a very rare occurrence in CCL cricket. At the end of the innings the Rising Stars was able to make only 47 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. Aneesh was the top scorer with 15 runs.

With the kind of form most of the Blasters’ batsmen are in, chasing a moderate score of 48 runs was always going to be easy work. Unlike in the previous match, Blasters entrusted Ajith to open the innings with Sujith. However the experiment didn’t work out well for the Blasters as Ajith was dismissed in the 3rd ball of the innings. The in-form pair of Sujith and Linto took the match by the scruff of the neck and played in the fluent manner they are known for. Sujith was particularly harsh any loose deliveries and quickened the scoring by hitting 4 huge sixes. Linto played a good hand and gave good support to Sujith. Master Blasters achieved their target in 4.4 overs as Sujith remained unbeaten.

Gopalan is the Man of the Match.
