Master Blasters on a roll, sinks Royal Strikers by 10 wickets
If winning is a habit then the Master Blasters has acquired that habit at the beginning of the season itself. After beating Rising Stars the previous day, the Blasters sunk Royal Strikers by 10 wickets today.
Master Blasters’ captain Renjith Kumar won his second toss in as many days and he had no hesitation to send the Royal Strikers to bat. Strikers opened their innings with Captain Ranjith E and Latheesh. Linto of Blasters drew first blood when he had Ranjith caught behind in the third ball of the innings. Henry was in next, but he couldn’t make any healthy contribution to the team total and was clean bowled by Linto. Strikers’ star batsman Vineeth too fell soon, putting the batting team in real trouble. However Latheesh held his nerve and in the company of Binish and Rageesh, took the team to a healthy score of 69 for the loss of 4 wickets in 10 overs. Rageesh’s late innings cameo was instrumental to the Strikers’ good score. Latheesh top scored with 35 runs. While Linto took 2 wickets, Abhin chipped in with one.
Sujith and Linto opened the innings for the Blasters and went about their business in a measured manner. No hurry was shown by either of the batsmen, but both were severe against any loose deliveries. Strikers experimented with different bowlers, but the Blasters’ openers were not in any mood to give up. When Sujith started from where he stopped yesterday, Linto seemed to draw a lot of inspiration from his good performance with the ball. Mediocre fielding from the Strikers made the chase easy for the Blasters as they reached the finishing point without the loss of any wicket. When Sujith made 29 runs, Linto made 34 to take their team to a second consecutive win in the season.
Linto was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round brilliance in the match.
