Rising Stars rises, beats Royal Strikers by 4 wickets
Rising Stars has made their presence felt in CCL7 with a brilliant win against the Royal Strikers. Batting second, the Stars won by 4 wickets.
When Strikers’ captain lost two consecutive tosses, the team was asked to bat first by the Stars’ captain Baji. Strikers’ opening stand between Ranjith E and Latheesh didn’t last long, as the latter batsman was run out in the second over of the match. Vineeth, who came in the place of Latheesh, started well and showed a lot of promise, but was dismissed by an excellent yorker from Sandeep. The Strikers kept on losing wickets until Mithun saved the team with a timely knock of 16 runs. He was ably supported by Binish and Piyoosh. At the end of 10 overs, Royal Strikers was able to put 59 runs on the board, with the loss of 8 wickets. While Sandeep got 2 wickets, Sumesh, Vishnu and Prajeesh got 1 wicket each.
With a required run rate of 6 runs per over, Stars’ opened their innings with Sumesh and Vishnu. Vishnu was unable to open his account, but Sumesh and Prajeesh moved the scoreboard forward. The Stars too lost wickets at regular intervals and twice in the innings, 2 wickets fell in the same over. But the hopes of the Strikers were dashed when the duo of Aneesh and Bhasid took the field. A couple of huge sixes from Bhasid settled the deal for the Stars as they attained the target in 8 overs.
Bhasid was declared the Man of the Match.
