Tuskers United storms into finals, uproots Legends
In a clinical display of total cricket Tuskers United uprooted Legends and stormed into the finals of CCL 6. There was total domination by the Tuskers, as in all departments of the match they outplayed and outclassed the Legends and defeated them for a huge margin of 40 runs.
It was again the Legends Captain Mahadevan who won the toss and as usual he decided to bowl first on a very important match. Legends knew that if it lost the match, reaching the finals would be improbable for the team, if not impossible. Put into bat Tuskers started slowly with Aneesh TA and their in-form batsman Ajeesh. Though they lost Aneesh in the second over of the match, Ajeesh found good support in Saravanan. Running between the wickets had been excellent and the batsmen made good use of the sloppy fielding of the Legends. Ajeesh stood as the backbone of the Tuskers innings and slowly progressed with his innings. Tuskers needed an added impetus in the final overs, which was provided by Saravanan when he hit two sixes off the penultimate over. Though Ajeesh and Abhin fell in quick succession, Ben, who came to the crease in the final over of the innings, hit two big sixes to take the score to a challenging 93 in 10 overs.
Legends’ openers Mahadevan and Saleem started well. First ball of the innings was hit for a four, which was followed by 4 singles in the remaining 5 balls. However the Legends batsmen were not able to continue with the same momentum as Tuskers’ bowlers bowled some excellent line and length. The bowlers were supported brilliantly by the fielders and it appeared that it was impossible for the cricket ball to infiltrate through them to reach the fence. Difficulty to quicken the scoring created big pressure on the Legends batsmen and they started to fall one after the other. At the end Legends fell well short of their target and was able to make only 53 runs in 10 overs. While Basil got 2 wickets, Ajeesh, Ben and Abhin chipped in with one wicket each.
Ajeesh was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
